The Madrid Masters Favorite Unveiled

Just days before the third Madrid Masters, the favorite to win the event itself was revealed and it was unveiled to be England’s Luke Donald who showed good performance in BMW PGA Championship. Donald was revealed to be 13/1 with VC Bet.

But the World #11 Martin Kaymer of Germany was reported also to be present at the Real Sociedad Hípica Española Club de Campo, Golf Course for the event. And Kaymer was revealed to be second in the betting with odds of 16/1 with Victor Chandler. However, was also reported to have conceded recently about not having a very good form.

However just today the news confirmed that Donald was set to really win the event. News confirmed that Donald won and became richer with the €250,000 prize. But Donald had a hard time because of Welshman Rhys Davies.

But Donald seemed very happy after the event despite the hard time.

“It’s been a while since I won and to put last week behind me makes me very proud,” said Donald. “The way I played today means a lot to me. The eagle was huge because Rhys put a lot of pressure on me.”

While Davies was most likely disappointed with the result but for sure has accepted the defeat like how it must be accepted. It was not definitely the time for Davies to be actually the better one.

“I didn’t make a bogey in the final group in a big tournament,” Davies said. “It didn’t quite come off, but I’ve got lots to be pleased about. I was chasing the win and I just came up short unfortunately. On the 16th I thought I might keep the momentum (he had just birdied the 15th to level), but he threw in an eagle to be fair to him.”

Hansen as the Second Favorite to Win the First European Tour Event

Dane Anders Hansen, who made it to be well recognized last year, will play at the fourth Joburg Open this week to give it a try on another accomplishment, on another victory. The tournament will be in South Africa.

Hansen actually moved up in the world rankings because of what he had showed in the previous year. He is now at number 39. And of course, he is currently the second favorite to win the fourth Joburg Open of this year with 14/1 odds with Victor Chandler.

The player ended last year in fine style by having third place finishes in both Alfred Dunhill Championships and the S African Open in December. Thus, it is not that surprising if Victor Chandler seen him as second favorite to win the first European tour event of the year.

It is the South African player, Charl Schwarzel, who is the current favorite for the Joburg Open event. He is the winner of the African Open that happened last week. Also with Victor Chandler, he is at odds of 9/1.

However, some say that punters should be careful about investing on Schwarzel as often no player begins a new year with back to back wins.

The European tour event no doubt has attracted a lot of good players and punters, but it still seems that the betting is very open with no real player dominating.

Other players with good chances include the likes of Darren Clarke and Richard Sterne. Clarke is now at odds of 25/1 with Ladbrokes and Sterne at odds of 14/1 with Bet365. Clarke, in early season, often plays well. While Sterne, is noticeably in good form during the African Open last week, he ended up in a tie for 13th place. The odds just said it all, Ronnie O’Sullivan eventually becomes the favorite for the Masters Snooker title. The betting gives the favor to him after making it through to the quarter finals with a significant 6-4 win in a great match over Australian Neil Robertson.

His success in the match actually earned him the recognition as the favorite at odds of 6/4 with Victor Chandler to win the title for the fifth time. It actually gave him another success. But of course, it is like something that he has not yet enjoyed.
