Dalglish Praising His Footballers

Kenny Dalglish seemed unhappy after Liverpool needed to deal with 1-1 result after playing against Manchester City. The manager saw how his footballers also played for the football club. He wished to even praise them for playing very well. They seemed deserving of the three points. It just appeared that they were unlucky.

Dalglish said also as revealed by the reports: “The performance was fantastic but I don’t think the players got what they fully deserved. I think we deserved the three points and quite easily could have won it, but we never managed to. We got a fortunate goal but I think that is when our luck ran out. We have played against three or four goalkeepers who have played like that against us this season. Hopefully one day that will change. Manchester City started better than us but once we got into it, I think we were the better team.”

However, Dalglish also wished to just be positive. The manager wanted to think that his footballers again tried to play very well. They again tried to perform properly also to help Liverpool win against Manchester City. They even seemed deserving of the three points after the game. They only failed and because they were unlucky. He wished to think that they again tried to deliver. It was important for him to be positive. He just tried to in order to also give the footballers the right guidance after the game. It already happened. It was right for him to just deal with it properly. He also really tried to.

Dalglish, in addition, said: “I don’t think we could have asked for much more from the players. They were fantastic in the way they went about their job. I think the attitude and commitment has been superb almost since the day I came in.”

Gerrard Into Champions League

It was confirmed by several reports that Steven Gerrard will be very serious when it comes to qualifying for the Champions League as it will be his football club’s top priority in the new football season. For the footballer, it is going to be a must that all of them will really try to achieve such qualification to the prestigious football club competition, of course, also for the football club.

Gerrard said: “I’d love nothing better than to lead the lads to some silverware next year but I don’t want to raise expectation by saying that will definitely happen. It would be stupid of me to raise expectations any more than they are already. At the beginning of every season at Liverpool expectations rise, and now that Kenny is staying and with a few signings I’m sure it’ll go through the roof. Getting in the Champions League will be the main aim. I think it is for all the clubs in the Premier League.”

Gerrard admitted that all of them will actually be very serious when it comes to qualifying for the Champions League, yes, it will be his football club’s main goal in the new football season. The footballer revealed that everyone will just do everything to achieve such qualification to the prestigious football club competition to also once again enjoy some amazing nights. Gerrard said: “Everyone wants to be involved in it, we’ve had some fantastic nights at Anfield over the years in the competition and we all want to see those nights return. We just need to continue what we’ve been doing during the last six months.”

Dalglish Encouraged Own Players to Enjoy Break

Kenny Dalglish revealed recently that he wants his players to just enjoy the break despite the disappointment for everyone to deal with because of the not so good season. For the Liverpool boss, it will really help if the players will just rest, have a good time and all with the break given to them despite of the frustration brought by the season.

Dalglish said: “They’ve done fantastic to do as well as they have done and it would’ve been nice to finish on a positive. We ran out of legs a little bit. Nature took its toll. You get that at this stage of the season but the most important thing for us is that they did the best they possibly could. The disappointment is for them, not with them. The challenge is to turn up in July and get ourselves going again. They deserve their break and I hope they enjoy it.”

And according to the reports, Dalglish, like all other bosses, also wishes his best players to remain and just attract other brilliant players. Of course, for the boss, winning has been also about having great players. And reports revealed that he hopes that all of his very nice players will not leave and he will get to tempt some players who are also very good. Well, supporters of the boss and of the football club can just wait and see if all of his heart’s desires will actually happen. Naturally, everyone can just pray for nothing else but only the best. Hopefully, they will happen, also for the welfare of all.

Dalglish said: “There’s more players who don’t play in the Champions League than do and I think Liverpool Football Club is a big enough attraction. If we want to bring someone in I’m sure we’re attractive.”

Real Madrid

It looks as though Real Madrid is taking their summer attention to Carlos Tevez, who is apparently their number one target for the summer transfer window. Tevex is likely going to cost about £35 million.

After signing Nuri Sahin 9 May, the club is now setting their eyes on 28-year-old Hamit Altintop of Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich

It appears as though the offer has increased to €21 million for Manuel Neuer after the initial offer of €18 million was turned down for being unacceptable. Munich wants to acquire the very talented goalkeeper but Schalke also wants to keep him.

Schalke

28-year-old Maarten Stekelenburg of Ajax has caught the attention of Schalke. The German squad is in need of a new goalkeeper since Manuel Neuer has gone elsewhere. However, the possibility of Stekelenburg ended up in Schalke is unlikely seeing as how AC Milan and Manchester United are also said to be keeping an eye on him.

Werder Bremen

After showing interest last week, Werder Bremen is on the threshold of finalizing a deal with Bayern Munich for Mehmet Ekici, a 21-year-old playmaker who is only costing Bremen €5 million and is currently with Bayern on loan. Although Ekici has expressed interest in staying with Bayern, it appears that Bayern would rather cash in on him now rather than wait for next summer when he could leave as a free transfer.

Manchester City

It seems than Manchester City will join Everton and Aresenal in the chase for a £17 million defender from Ajax – Jan Vertonghen. Manchester City also has their sights set on two other players – Kevin De Bruyne from Genk and Axel Witsel from Standard Liège.

Other targets of Manchester City are Wesley Sneijder, Gary Cahill and Leighton Baines. Let’s not also forget Cesc Fábregas and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The latter belongs to Barcelona but the club is looking for a way out and the former has caught the eye of Barcelona in addition to City. Talk about a lot of money to be spent this summer…

Manchester United

United is expected to give a contract offer to Antonio Valencia in hopes of getting other clubs such as Real Madrid to look elsewhere for summer transfer prospects.

Also in the sights of United is Jeremy Menez who has been with Roma for three years but now apparently wants out of the club. United has competition, though, as Arsenal and Liverpool are both supposedly interested as well.

AC Milan’s Clarence Seedorf’s contract ends at the conclusion of this season and may find his way to Manchester United throughout the summer for not much of a price. He is ready to leave Milan after having been with the club for nine years.

United has tried for the previous two years to acquire Inter’s Wesley Sneijder. The 26-year-old playmaker will cost about £25 million but may actually take the offer this time around since Inter appears ready to deal.

United is said to be a pole-runner for acquiring the services of Lens’ 18-year-old Raphael Varane. Although there has been talks that Roma, Bayern Munich and Arsenal are also targeting the young defender, it is likely that he’ll end up with United – especially since the club has supposedly already spoken with his agent about a potential transfer.

Both United and City are supposedly clubs that are very much interested in Alexis Sanchez from Udinese. The 22-year-old winger has a price tag of about £26 million.

Inter

It appears as though Inter may have their sights set on 20-year-old Gaston Ramirez of Bologna, who would cost them less money than their previous primary target Alexis Sanchez, who would have cost them around €30 million to get him to transfer from Udinese. Ramirez would more than likely cost around the ballpark of €8 to €10 million since he is with Bologna under contract until 2015.

After initially wanting to sign Nuri Sahin, who ended up transferring to Real Madrid earlier this week, the Serie A club has now set their sights on 22-year-old Ever Banega from La Liga’s Valencia. If the offer is good enough, Valencia is likely to accept although the playmaker is under contract through 2013.

Chelsea

Chelsea is obviously better than Tottenham Hotspur and I’m sure they plan on using similar terms when they try to get both Rafael van der Vaart and Gareth Bale to switch clubs. Numbers somewhere around £70 million for the two has been circulating in the air.

Roma

Roma has been intrigued by 17-year-old Romelu Lukaku of Anderlecht. They want some new, young talent to add to the squad but they are in a race with Chelsea, who are more likely to secure the young striker’s services. Anderlecht is asking €30 million for the talented teenager.

Aside from Lukaku, though, Roma is also keeping solid tabs on Leandro Damiao of Internacional as well as Abel Hernandez of Palermo.

In addition, Federico Balzaretti has sparked the interest of Roma due to his impressive performance this season with Palermo. John Arne Riise is said to be heading back to the Premier League so the Serie A club is seeking an adequate replacement and see that in the 29-year-old defender. However, Roma will have to flesh out some cash if they have any chances of securing his services since he is contract until 2013.

Liverpool

Both Liverpool and Aston Villa have set sights on a skipper from West Brom – Chris Brunt, whom I’m sure couldn’t be more flattered. Brunt will probably go for between £7 and £10 million.

Bolton Wanderers

Currently with FC Copenhagen, 21-year-old Mathias Jorgensen has caught the attention of Bolton. He’ll likely not cost much – around £5 million.

Everton

Everton seems to be looking for an international goalkeeper and have their eyes set on a 25-year-old named Keiren Westwood from the Republic of Ireland International.

Tottenham Hotspur

Goalkeepers are in the sights of Tottenham – Ben Foster or Maarten Stekelenburg.

Rangers

It looks as though the Rangers may take a chance to sign a teenager from Preston, Danny Devine.

Dalglish Happy With Own Players’ Performance

Reports have confirmed that Kenny Dalglish was truly happy with the performance of his very own players. Yes, the men of Liverpool delivered a very nice one at Anfield on a Sunday. Everyone really tried to make it possible to produce a great performance and the boss can only be glad with what they’ve shown, delivered.

Dalglish said: “It was a difficult day for both sets of players. It was really hot for them and after we took the lead they put us under a bit of pressure through set plays and crosses but in the second half we loosened up a little bit, got two goals and I think we deserved to win. I didn’t expect to get a stroll in the sunshine. They’ve been playing well of late. They got a good draw at home to Manchester United and maybe the Andy Carroll factor added a wee bit of spice for them but as I say, it was a tough game but I think we were deserving winners. Some of the passing and movement has been better than what it was today but their determination and effort was the same as it has always been.”

Well, everyone indeed tried to help the football club deliver a very nice performance but Dalglish can’t really stop himself from really thanking John Flanagan. For the boss, the player was wonderful at Anfield on a Sunday.

Dalglish said: “I think he won the test against (Jonas) Gutierrez and against (Joey) Barton. He made the first goal and then he’s been moved over and it worked out well for us. Flanagan has done brilliantly. He has surpassed all of our expectations and it’s great credit to him. He got booked but he kept trying and kept playing and he’s been a great credit for us.”

Redknapp Praised His Players

Reports have just confirmed that manager Harry Redknapp was pleased by the fighting spirit of his men during the game on Sunday, which they actually ended up winning. And it was said that Redknapp praised his men for greatly believing that they will make it and they did. They indeed won game against Liverpool 2-1.

Redknapp said: “The lads showed great character. To come back from behind again was just amazing. I’ve had teams in the past at times when they go one down and you might as well go home. With this team we come back and keep going. There’s goals, we’re exciting, we play fantastic, open football and we’re never out of a game. I think we’ve got the ability to always create chances, that’s for sure.”

While Redknapp was pleased by the fighting spirit of his men, Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson could not smile then with central defender Jamie Carragher going out of the game with a dislocated shoulder, failing to really help the club win.

Hodgson said: “It’s very bad. He’s dislocated his shoulder. It’s an unfortunate thing to happen on his 450th appearance in the Premier League. He’s a very important player for us. We’ll now be without him and Steven Gerrard and they are the lifeblood of our club. To lose in injury time in the way we did is very hard to take. I’m very disappointed for the players, very disappointed that we didn’t come away from here with at least one point which would have been something we could have been proud of.”

Of course, supporters of Redknapp and of Tottenham Hotspur were glad with what men of Tottenham Hotspur showed during the game against Liverpool. They showed great fighting spirit that made them successful on such a Sunday match against another great club.

A lot of football enthusiasts could not believe that the mighty Chelsea football club was beaten 2-0 by Liverpool. The football club, which has been considered as the league leader, was trounced 2-0 by Liverpool-based club on Sunday at Anfield. It seemed surreal to many football enthusiasts seeing Chelsea ending up as the losing club.

Yes, Chelsea football club has been considered the leader in the English Premier League. It has been the most consistent and dominant. However, surprisingly, the football club was beaten 2-0 by Liverpool on Sunday at the opponent’s ground.

Well, Liverpool football club was really good then. Chelsea found it hard to even earn a goal. For many football enthusiasts who have witnessed how Liverpool played against Chelsea, the football club, if will continue playing that good will earn the title this season.

Liverpool actually went to the match with three consecutive wins and really determined to make it four by winning the game against Chelsea. And the football club made it, was successful on their efforts for such great accomplishment.

Fernando Torres really helped the football club be successful. The Spaniard made use of the superb pass from teammate Dirk Kuyt for the club’s first goal. Kuyt just returned from an injury but then managed to help the club win.

Liverpool Making Slow But Steady Progress

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson recently talked about his team winning against Blackburn and he seemed happy to talk about it. According to the manager, it is a proof that the club is making slow but steady progress.

However, Hodgson said that he doesn’t want to get really excited with the progress the club is making. He said he doesn’t want to be carried away although Liverpool is having significant improvement particularly in performance.

Hodgson said: “I’d be lying if I said it felt like a turning point. That would be a facile thing to say. I’ve got faith in the team and the way we played in several of the games. We were worse at the beginning but we have got better.”

Hodgson believed that his team is on the right track. He said he can say his team is most especially if he will also consider statistics from Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to Everton.

Hodgson said: “I saw the statistics the other day from the Everton game and I’ve never in my Premier League career seen statistics as positive as they were in terms of passing, accuracy and tempo of passing, number of shots and crosses. Those statistics hearten you because you know you are not playing badly but they don’t get you any points. We had the same level of passing and intensity against Blackburn but we were much more incisive, getting behind them down the flanks more. It was the right sort of performance; we’ve got to give another 29 like that and if we can do that then we won’t go too far wrong.”

It must be true that Liverpool is making slow but steady progress. And, we just hope this will continue. Many fans will be happy if ever the club will continue making slow however steady progress.

Hodgson Delighted With Club Takeover Reports

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson talked about the reports on club takeover by New England Sports Ventures and it seemed that he was happy to reveal certain things. Yes, he seemed delighted with them.

Hodgson said: “It’s very positive and of course I’m delighted. It’s been going on a long time and I know how hard the board have worked to set things up. I know it’s not easy for them because the owners have other ideas in terms of the sale of the club and what is achievable. But I was delighted to hear the news and have it confirmed that it looks like it is going to go through.”

But currently Hodgson and his players are third from the bottom in the table. They are only with six points after seven games. But he also talked about the situation and based on everything he said on the matter, they will just really work hard to correct things.

Hodgson said: “We know what we’ve got to do, we know we need some new players, we know we need investment, and we know we are weak in certain areas of the team – these things have been the case since I arrived at the club and we haven’t had chance to put things right. What I ask of the fans is their patience, their trust and their belief, because we will get it right – there are no doubts about that. The club will be in a pretty healthy situation in general terms if the sale goes through.”

But despite of the great challenge, Hodgson was just happy. Of course, he was happy with the club takeover reports. Reports confirmed that there are really potential new owners and to also mention these owners according to club chairman Martin Broughton still consider him as the perfect manager to lead the club.

Degen On Loan at Stuttgart

Yes, full-back Philipp Degen is currently playing for VfB Stuttgart on loan from Liverpool. Premier League club Liverpool indeed confirmed that the Swiss international defender is playing on loan for the German club and will be actually spending entire new season playing for the club.

Degen joined Liverpool from Borussia Dortmund back in 2008. He did well playing for the Premier League club however several reports said that he struggled for some first-team chances.

New Reds manager Roy Hodgson once said that he hopes to give more opportunities to the reserve players. And with this, Swiss international was told that he can return to Germany for the new football campaign.

Degen of course was happy to have heard about Liverpool confirming that can play on loan for the German club and will be spending his entire new season on loan at Stuttgart.

Degen said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge and the wonderful VfB fans. I really want to make use of my chance. It’s fantastic to be working together with Christian Gross again. I had a very successful time with him in Basel.”

While in reply to what Degen said Stuttgart boss Gross conceded that he is also happy to have the Swiss international defender. He admitted that he knows the defender so well and for him he is a great player as well as an amazing person.

Gross said: “I know Philipp very well and rate him highly both as a football player and as a person. He is a very athletic and fast player, who often looks to push forward. Philipp wants to take his chance at VfB.”

It is just good to know now that they all seemed happy with Degen’s return. Most especially Degen, he seemed glad to return, just good for us to know.
