Fans of the English team Manchester United were all saddened the previous weekend upon hearing the result of the game between their favorite team and Chelsea. The result of course was not good for them – Manchester United 1-2 Chelsea.

Carlo Ancelotti team Chelsea was able to reclaim the English Premier League top spot from Manchester United. And this actually made the fans of the Red Devils feel even sorrier.

At the Old Trafford, the fans were unable to see veterans like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes shine, though the latter was able to get a yellow card for the team. They also failed to see Gary Neville step up and make his contribution.

Manchester United failed to fire on all cylinders, and use excellent teamwork to wrong-foot the opponent just like what this team did in the game against Bolton Wanderers recently and even in certain games in the past.

It was really questionable for the fans then, the Red Devils should have played well considering that it has all the reasons to. But this side failed to and it was seriously disturbing.

While Chelsea was indeed so eager to win then, from start to finish this team has showed so much eagerness. Chelsea’s Paul Scholes and Didier Drogba determination to win even made Chelsea 2-0 ten minutes into the second half.

Manchester United’s Federico Macheda was only able to put the Red Devils on the board and so at the final whistle result turned out to be – Manchester United 1-2 Chelsea.

Now, Chelsea possesses the English Premier League top spot with 74 points. This Carlo Ancelotti team is at the top spot of the much talked about league standings. But Manchester United is next after it, naturally in the said standings with 72 points, and then Arsenal with 71 points.

Manchester United Beaten Bolton Wanderers 4-0

Manchester United can be considered worthy of the top spot in the English Premier League, when actually more than a week ago, the said team beaten 4-0 Bolton Wanderers. However for some, it was not really something to be seriously up to as the Red Devils then was at the top of the English Premier League standings while the Wanderers was close to bottom.

Also, it is worth mentioning here now that Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson actually ordered rest of Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick. The said coach seemed confident that his side would make it against Bolton Wanderers though his great men won’t be around. Thus, some just didn’t take the victory of the Red Devils over the Wanderers seriously.

According to news reports, Sir Ferguson decided to give the three rest, or break, so they’d be good enough for the English team’s much awaited UEFA Champions League game against Bayern Munich in Munich on Tuesday. Well, the Red Devils’ coach has most likely just figured it out that though without the three talented men, his side could still win against the Wanderers. And he can be deemed as someone wise, Manchester United made it against Bolton Wanderers. The team fired on all cylinders, and used excellent teamwork to wrong-foot the opponent.

But the Wanderers has also exerted effort to deliver a spirited fight. Back then, the team also made it hard in a way for Manchester United to win.

The game can be considered exciting, with the Red Devils not having Rooney, Ferdinand and Carrick and trying to stay at the top of the English Premier League standings and with the Wanderers still trying to prove its potential in the prestigious league. But the outcome of the game itself can be just considered not that interesting for some.

After winning against Hull City, Manchester United just swiftly rocketed to the top of the English Premier League. The team now owns the top spot in one of the biggest football leagues with 50 points.

The whole team must be thankful to their striker Wayne Rooney who not only scored once but actually four times which was really significant then in obtaining the top spot in such one popular football league. Indeed, the striker has always been good in the field.

Arsenal and Chelsea have also been trying hard to get the spot that Manchester United now owns. But then, the Red Devils did well in their last game, thus securing it with 50 points, and 2 points clear of the two teams, Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, Manchester United actually had a tough time with regards to their standings. Just recently, they lost to Manchester City, their arch rivals. Not to mention that rumors about Old Trafford going under the hammer have been just around the corner.

For some time, fans of Red Devils were troubled about the team’s standings in the English Premier League. But good thing, the Saturday game was won by the Red Devils, Rooney’s exemplary play really helped bring back the peacefulness in the eyes of the team’s supporters.

But Arsenal also had a victory and it was the game against the Bolton Wanderers. Wenger’s men managed to beat them 4-2. But then, the Arsenal manager might have felt dissatisfied and might have asked a question like, “how such team scored two goals?”. Bolton Wanderers actually was lying second from the bottom in the English Premier League when they played against Arsenal. But of course, anything can happen. Yes, the bookmakers have finally revealed the favorites for the Bolton job. It is Darren Ferguson, a former Peterborough manager, who is 4/1 joint favourite for the said job together with Mark Hughes, his former Manchester United team-mate.

The strong candidates to succeed Gary Megson as Bolton Wanderers’ manager are indeed just Ferguson and Hughes. And it is just good to see them both on top of their game.

“What a prospect it would be to see Fergie senior and junior shaping up against each other!”, William Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe said.

But the spokesman added that the job also offers a good chance for Mark Hughes to be back on route fast considering his departure from Manchester City.

Well, there are some other candidates and these include Paul Jewell who is backed at 9/2, both Alan Curbishley and Gary Speed at 7/1 and Steve Coppell at 8/1. A bookmaker actually offers new bets on swine flu affecting the Premier League, and this is in consideration to some Blackburn Rovers players being diagnosed having such flu.
