World Championship of Online Poker News
WCOOP or the World Championship of Online Poker is a series of online poker tournaments sponsored by PokerStars. PokerStars is one of the biggest online poker card rooms across the globe. In 2005, PokerStars.com was labeled the “Best Poker Operator of the Year”. PokerStars is also part owner of EPT (European Poker Tour), APPT (Asia Pacific Poker Tour), and LPT (Latin Poker Tour). Satellite tournaments were also held under the production of PokerStars. These satellite tournaments allowed many famous names in poker a chance for a huge build up in regards to popularity, such as Chris Moneymaker, the winner of the 2003 World Series of Poker, Greg “Fossilman” Raymer, who was the champion in the 2004 tournament and Joe Hachem, the 2005 World Series champion. These big names act as representatives or spokespeople for the PokerStars card rooms.
There are ten categories of online poker games that PokerStars offers. These are: Texas hold’em, Omaha Hi-Lo (8 or better), Stud Hi-Lo (8 or better), Stud, Five Card Draw, Deuce to Seven Single Draw, Deuce to Seven Triple Draw, Razz and Badugi. Whether fixed limit or no limit, you’ll definitely find different kinds of online poker games throughout this site. Not only that, PokerStars also organized the biggest online poker tournaments the world has ever seen, particularly the Spring Championship of Online Poker – All Stakes (SCOOP) and the much awaited World Championship of Online Poker (WCOPP) which is scheduled to start on September 3, 2009.
The world’s largest online poker website is hosting this year’s World Championship of Online Poker or WCOOP. WCOOP is a series of Online Poker events which originated in the year 2002. This year’s PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker is the world’s most extravagant and extraordinary online competition. The most elite players of online poker from around the globe gather together for the chance of winning huge rewards. Millions of dollars await the best among the best of online poker players.
This much awaited online poker tournament is just around the corner. It is scheduled to start on September 3 of this year and will last for 18 days. By September 20, the tournament is expected to conclude with the two day, $10k guaranteed No limit Hold’em Main event. This is the eighth anniversary of the tournament since the start of WCOOP in 2001. It includes 45 events with a guaranteed pool prize of $ 10, 000,000 – $40,000,000. The good thing about WCOOP is that anyone at anytime or any place could take part in the game because, for as low as $1, you could become part of the game ladder. Indeed, everyone is given the chance to earn the title of becoming online poker world champion by participating in qualifying events such as the ones that took place last July 5 in PokerStars.com
The 45 events will be comprised of three $215 No limit Hold’em events with $1 million guarantee on Sundays, two $1,050 No Limit Hold’em events with half a million or $500,000 guarantee on Tuesdays, a single $109 No Limit Hold’em events with $1 million guaranteed on Saturday and three 10 minute level events on Fridays. This time the online poker tournament will be much bigger and more exciting compared to the previous online poker tournaments.
