WGC-CA Championship of 2010 Preview

Tomorrow begins a new journey of the World Golf Championship from the Doral-Blue Monster Course.  This particular event has some of the most popular and top players worldwide.  Don’t expect to see Tiger Woods in the odds matchup because he won’t be here this year; however, his competitor, Phil Mickelson, will be there and is currently the favorite to win the golf tournament.

Mickelson is favored to win this year’s tournament, but a few that are not too hard behind him include Steve Stricker, Paul Casey, as well as Camilo Villegas.  In the years this tournament has taken place, last year, Mickelson claimed the championship victory and he claimed 20th place in 2008 with a 22nd place in 2007.  In the past seven events that Mickelson has competed in, five of them he secured a position in the top 20; however, he has not seen a higher number than 8 this year in 2010.

Stricker finished 6th in the 2008 event and 12th last year.  In the last five tour events that Stricker has competed in, he has seen a final position all in the top 10 apart from the Match Play Championship where he had a 33rd finish.  In the past 13 participated events, Stricker has finished within the top 10 in nine of them.

Paul Casey participated in this event and finished in eight in 2007 and this past year he placed 30th.  In the last seven events that Casey has participated in, he has finished within the top 11 in six of them, which includes all of the last four.

Camila Villegas secured a 26th place finish in 2008 and a fifth place in last year’s event.  He has just secured the title from the Honda Classic and in the last four participated events, he has finished in the top 10 of all of them in addition to a top 25 finish in the last 10 events.

The WGC-CA 2010 Championship will take place in Miami, Florida, at the Doral-Blue Monster Course for a duration of four days beginning tomorrow, March 11, and ending March 14, 2010.
