Week 3 of the NFL Pre-Season Sports Betting Odds
Week 3 of the NFL pre-season is finally upon us. Out of all the pre-season games, Week 3 is probably deemed as the most important. Why? Simply because this is the week when the teams throw their starters into deep play in the second quarter.
Week 3 is different than the first two weeks in pre-season due to this reason and when you look at online sportsbook, you’ll see a notable different as well – one that reflects the regular season betting odds. Let’s delve into a few of the match-ups for Week 3 of the NFL Pre-season.
Thursday night, the St. Louis Rams will be traveling to play against the New England Patriots. Rookie and number 1 draft pick from the 2010 NFL Draft held earlier this year, QB Sam Bradford will be starting in this game while QB A.J. Freeley is out due to an injury he sustained to his thumb and elbow. For the first time, Bradford will play with RB Steven Jackson. The two backups, Thaddeus Lewis and Keith Null, who are competing to win the No. 3 QB spot will have plenty of work in this week’s game thus being able to show who deserves the No. 3 position more. St. Louis Rams are favored.
Also, on Thursday, the Green Bay Packers will compete against the Indianapolis Colts, who were defeated in last year’s Super Bowl against the New Orleans Saints with the Packers being the favorite to win this game even though when looking at last preseason the Colts were 1-3. However, the Colts will be playing many of their starters in this game due to injuries. They definitely need to work on their offensive line. For the Packers, the starters have been being played as little as possible to prevent serious injury, which isn’t good for them – hopefully, we’ll see some of their action in this game.
Friday, the San Diego Chargers will travel to play the New Orleans Saints, the defending champions of the Super Bowl. For the Chargers, rookie RB Ryan Matthews has definitely been playing for success. The Chargers look confident and strong but so do the Saints. Drew Brees will lead the Chargers who didn’t show early signs of success in his careers.
Saturday, the Dallas Cowboys will travel to Houston to play the Texans. The Houston Texans have shown improvement year after year for the past several years and now have a chance to show their skill and abilities in the NFL. The Cowboys are definitely not as confident as they need to be in the offense aspect and didn’t score a touchdown for this pre-season until last week against the Chargers. The Cowboys will play without Rookie WR Dez Bryant as he recovering from a high ankle sprain. This game is the beginning of a beautiful in-state friendship – I mean, rivalry!
Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers will head to Denver to play the Broncos. This is the only game that is being played on Sunday and both teams are impressive in areas. The Steelers have welcomed Ben Roethlisberger back into the team and while he had limited time to play in pre-season game in week 2, he looked strong and secure. They have it at quarterback but need to figure some things out in terms of the offensive line. As for the Broncos, they are impressive in passing thus far this pre-season. Kyle Orton is the only QB to have thrown more than a single touchdown during the pre-season this year and is currently ranked third in the NFL starting quarterbacks. As for rookie QB Tim Tebow, he has been missing practice due to sore ribs from a hit he took in the Broncos’ first pre-season game. If he is feeling up to par, he’ll likely have play time this Sunday.
