Notre Pere Will Carry Top Weight in Irish Grand National
The 2008 Welsh National winner and Grade One 2009 Punchestown Gold Cup winner, Notre Pere, will carry the top weight in the Irish Grand National. Along with The Tother One, he will indeed carry the 11-10 weight.
For many horse racing enthusiasts, it will be tough for Notre Pere and even the Paul Nicholls-trained The Tother One to actually make it in the event considering the weight they need to carry. But of course, it is possible for Notre Pere and even The Tother One to succeed in the event. In 2000, Commanche Chief carried more than 11 stone but still managed to win. In 1995, Flashing Steel carried 12 stone but also made it. In 1990, Desert Orchid carried same 12 stone and was able to win. And way back in 1966, Flyingbolt carried an enormous 12-07 stone but succeeded.
Notre Pere and even The Tother One will most likely find it hard to make it in the event with the 11-10 weight they will have to carry. But considering how Commanche Chief, Flashing Steel, Desert Orchid and Flyingbolt did in the past despite the weight they had to carry then, it is just so possible for the two to succeed in the upcoming event despite the weight assigned to them.
But Notre Pere and even The Tother One will most likely just find it hard to win in the event considering the weight they will have to carry and also considering the presence of Saddlers Storm, Synchronised, and Poker De Sivola that are all good. Saddlers Storm, winner of his last three Handicap Chases, is currently at 7/1 with Ladbrokes. Synchronised, the Midlands Grand National winner, is presently at 10/1. And Poker De Sivola, the Cheltenham Festival winner, is currently at 10/1 as well.
The race will just be so exciting with Notre Pere and other entries being around!
