Jol Unexpectedly Left Ajax
Martin Jol surprised everyone with unexpected departure from the club he called as “wonderful club”, the Ajax. He left the club after all the criticisms the Eredivisie club received. Most likely, he departed not because of a move to English Premier League club Newcastle United, which was reported some time ago.
Jol said: “With pain in my heart I say goodbye to this wonderful club. We started something last summer that I would have finished. But I have come to realise that the expectations after last season were too high. We cannot meet such expectations. The amount of criticism that the club has had to endure daily has led to unrest in the club and among players.”
Jol started to manage the club in May of last year. And he actually revealed that since then on, he had been dealing with certain expectations. And the most recent ones were too high for him. He also said criticisms later were already hurting everyone.
Jol said in addition: “I take this decision consciously before AC Milan v Ajax is played. The coming weeks are very important and I sincerely hope that something happens in the squad to make it in the short term a winning team.”
Well, it now seems that it is not true that Jol will be joining English Premier League club Newcastle United. It looks like he did not have plan of moving to the said club. He must be willing to be with Ajax for long and help the club win more games but then he must have found the expectations really not good and so as the criticisms. Of course, it is understandable if he just decided to depart from the club. He wanted not to do so but then most likely he just needed to then.
