Favorites in the Tennis World

Roger Federed and Serena Williams are known in the Tennis World. They are actually considered to be two of the favorites among the crowd. Soon they will be playing in a tournament in New York, and the players are starting to collect their bets this week between the two of them. The crowd is really torn between the players, and they are not sure on whom they should bet because of it.

Most of the men really like Federer because he is one of the best tennis players in the world. He advanced to the top really fast. One of the ones that he will be playing against is Rafeal Nadal. Crowds are unsure about this player because Nadal is not actually considered number one, he is number three, but he plays very well and could actually get up there in that number one spot. The fans know this about him; he is a serious player. One of the things that kept Nadal down this year was an injury to his back that recently occurred. He’s been trying really hard to recover from it and find his way back up to the top.

This year it looks as though the odds for Federer stand at 11/10. Last year, Federer gained more fans when he won against Andy Murray. Everyone who is involved with Tennis has pretty much heard of Andy Murray. He is the second best in tennis and even the sports books view him as second best. He has gained a lot of the crowd’s trust and has earned a lot of fame since he’s been playing. Everyone was shocked when Federer took home the prize last year, and Murray lost. They couldn’t believe it. A lot of bets were primarily placed on Murray but people won’t make that mistake this year.

People know that Nadal is still recovering from his back injury and is not as skilled as Federer. Many people also believe that as a result of that injury, Federer will probably win. However, this puts Nadal under a lot of pressure, and sometimes that pressure is really good for some people, because it makes them really buckle down and concentrate. It actually is anyone’s game because of how good both players are.

This year it seems like the odds have dropped some for Andy Murray, since Federer won the match last year. His odds stand at 11/2 so that shows people are really favoring Federer. Nadal is really coming in close to Federer, though. If he continues picking up his game and winning more often, he could get past Federer. The odds for Nadal stand at 11/2. He actually has higher odds this year then Andy Murray.

Now the women have a lot to cheer about when they see the famous Williams at a 7/4 odds with the crowd. Amazing enough, Venus, her sister, is actually blazing behind at second best, with the odds of 9/2. People remember Williams from last year because of how she defeated the famous Jelena Jankovic, and as a result that really boosted up the bets and the fans. Shockingly, that Jankovic defeat really hurt her last year because she is only in eighth place at 16/1.

Another player that people are tending to favor some is Maria Sharapova and it shows with her 8/1 odds. Maria has a lot to think about, with Elena Dementieva, following her up with the odds of 10/1. There is still hope for Victoria Azerenka and Kim Clijsters because they are tied at 12/1. The other women will really have to push this year and show the fans what they’re made of, because after that, they are all tied, with the odds around 25/1.

Soon the qualifying matches start and when the qualifying matches are finished, round one will begin, for both women and men. Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, in the state of New York, will be where the tournament takes place, and that is where it is usually held.
