Duffy Back in Light Training After Serious Accident

Shane DuffyYoung defender Shane Duffy was recently reported to have actually made it to return in light training after a serious accident. Everton’s teenager almost died because of the accident during training. He actually ruptured an artery after a collision with Irish goalkeeper Adrian Walsh.

Doctors confirmed that nearly two thirds of blood supply of the 18-year-old had leaked into his abdomen. And they also conceded that if the Ireland medical team on the site was not quick enough to attend to the young Duffy, worst thing could have happened.

Of course, Duffy thanked the medics. He believed he had second chance at life because of the medics.

Duffy said: “I can’t thank the medics enough. It’s made me realize how important it is now to get a second chance at it. I can’t describe it, that I’m still here. I nearly died. So I just have to live life now, and don’t take anything for granted.”

Duffy tried to remember what happened, thus he can’t just thank the medics enough for the help extended.

Duffy explained: “When it happened, I tried to get up straight away and the pain was just so sore, and then the doctor came on and I just said I couldn’t breathe and then he took me off. When I was in the ambulance I was getting sharp pains in my chest so that just made it worse and I couldn’t drink anything. I just blanked out from there, then I woke up and it was all done.”

The medics attended to his needs properly and so he survived. He was able to be wake up and then be just back in light training because of the medics. The medics just helped him to make it.

It was also confirmed that Duffy could only return to the pitch after six months.
