Cleveland Browns: Do they have chance at the AFC North?

The Cleveland Browns of the National Football League have been dying for years to take the AFC North Championship. They have encountered so many setbacks throughout the past few years that it almost seems that their chances of ever taking the AFC North championship is near impossible. Last year, the Browns thought it possible to defeat the Pittsburg Steelers but once again fell short.

The 2009-2010 NFL season gives a renewed hope to the players of the Cleveland Browns although their betting odds to win the AFC North championship this year are set at 36/1. These odds don’t look promising or encouraging for the Cleveland Browns with those kinds of odds but they just may overcome the insult from the betting companies. Like the players on the Browns say over and over “Heart goes a long way.” Hopefully, this year their heart will go longer than it has in the past.

Led by a relatively young coach, the Browns are seen as a low key team. They never make big moves or trades when it comes to the draft or during the preseason. Many critics say that this is what hurts them during the regular season but Magini, the current coach, says this is part of his strategy.

Many sports analysts predict that the Cleveland Browns have absolutely no chance at winning the AFC north championship this year although they are favored to win their first game of the season against the Minnesota Viking. The Cleveland Browns are favored by the majority of bookies by three points, which means the game will boil down to a single field goal.

Magini has unintentionally created a team that does not boast one start player. With all respect, the Cleveland Browns are a team of “no names.” Sports and betting analysts alike say that this element of the Cleveland team will always rank them as the underdog in games. Bookies say that many times betters could get lucky if the Browns win and make out like bandits on the betting scene.

At this point in the season, most teams know who their starting quarterback will be, but the Browns are still questionable. We are already into the pre-season and Magini is still “testing”. His unique strategies will only exist for a short while if he doesn’t start winning games.

If you plan on betting the NFL in this 2009-2010 season either bet the Browns every single game no matter what or stay away from betting on them completely. If you bet on them every game the actual games they win will be paydays to make up for all the games you lose on. If it were up to me, I would stay away from a team without an identity- like the Browns! Who wants to lose sleep at night worry about a team that hasn’t won an AFC North championship in years? Go with what the bookies say, “Don’t bet on a team you can’t afford to bet on.”
