Betting on Zola’s Departure Called Off by William Hill
Yes, it is now confirmed, the betting on the departure of Gianfranco Zola is suspended. William Hill indeed called if off because of a “substantial and sustained gamble”. The popular bookmaker realized that it is not a good idea to continue with the betting on Zola to be the next Premier League manager to depart from his club.
Before the betting was suspended, William Hill actually offered the Italian at 5/1 odds to be the next Premier League manager to leave his club. However, they were cut many times to 6/5.
A bettor from London actually placed a five-figure bet on the erstwhile Chelsea man to either walk away or be sacked.
William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said in explanation, “they were backing Zola at any price and there must be a rumor that either he is walking or the likely new owners are not Zola fans”.
David Gold and David Sullivan, formerly owners of Birmingham City, have taken over the club and completed the job. But it might be that, the unsettled times at Upton Park caused the increase in betting amounts for the betting on its manager’s future.
Previously, Gold suggested that there is no problem with the position of manager Gianfranco Zola and that it is actually safe.
Now, there is no betting going on in regards to Zola’s departure. But then of course, the possibility is still present, the manager might be the next Premier League manager to depart from his club. The odds may be gone, but still, the possibility is still eminent.
For sure, many football fans and bettors will still keep keen eyes over Zola. They will still be interested with Zola’s next decisions or next moves. They will still keep themselves updated as far as the manager is concerned.
