Another Sports Betting Operator Claimed Drop in Third Quarter Net Revenues
Earlier this month, Ladbrokes reported a fifteen percent drop in third quarter net revenues based on own accounting books. The famous sports betting operator cited the exceptionally low football margin as the reason of the said drop.
But unfortunately, another sports betting operator is believed to have actually experienced that same thing, a drop in third-quarter net revenues. Unfortunately, it is the equally famous William Hill that is believed to. The sports betting operator actually claimed drop in third quarter net revenues although it was just a slight one.
It was indeed a three percent drop according to William Hill. And it was believed to be also in relation to unfavorable sporting results. It was noted down that in August and September, the sports betting operators had no other choice but to only pay out more money due to having the most number of bettors or punters betting on wins.
Previous seasons have actually experienced around twenty-five percent of Premier League fixtures ended up with the scores level.
The year has been significant indeed for the sports betting operators considering the events leading to the margins but then improvements are starting to be seen. According to Ralph Topping, the chief executive of William Hill, “in what has, to date, been an extraordinary year for sporting results, football and horse racing affected us again in August and into September, but margins have returned to more normal historic levels since then”.
And in addition, in the good side of the story, William Hill’s net revenues risen by three percent over all, so far for this year. And the drop in third-quarter can still be worked out in the coming months. It is something to be noted but should not be something that can set drawbacks for the sports betting operator.
